RE: MISS TARGET OF MATDOR SUB-CALIBRE
I,S8620965 I PTE XU SHIHUI have the following to report
I was told that i over shot the target using MATDOR SUB-CALIBRE during the live firing on 1st Nov 2007 at Pasir Laba Matador Live Firing Area.
From my knowledge, i aimed and fired at the target. After firing, i was told that i over shot the target range by the safety officer, 2Lt Desmend Tan Yi Fan. I was unsure initially, because, i , was unable to see how the SUB-CALIBRE went off.
In my opinion, the reason i could think of with regards to how i accidentally miss the target was that, during that particular exercise. I was the fourth bay on the range. We were made to aim at our target once we were ready. As the firing could only commence once at a time, the firers on the line have to wait, standing shoulder position holding on to the matador. Due to it being the first time for everyone to fire, the firing took quite a long while before it was my turn.
Hence, when it was my turn to fire, i felt some numbness on my right shoulder. however, i double confirmed again with my safety officer before i was able to fire. I also confirmed with my safety officer that the target to aim is at 300m. In which, i recheck the reticle before pulling off the trigger. However, I was told that my SUB-CALIBRE had overshot the target.
Sir, from this point, I can assure you that i was aiming at the target. However, i do not know why my SUB-CALIBRE overshot.
that is all I have to say.
PTE XUSHIHUI
your obedient soldier.
